Recommended Maintenance Schedule

January February March April

Dormancy period.

Inspect terminal bud for signs of boring/chewing insects.

Drench terminal bud with Orthene if evidence of a nest is discovered.

Dormancy period ending.

New growth will begin to appear near the end of this month.

2-3 months Fertilize with 8-10 pounds 12/5/12 w/minors or close equivalent.

Root drench w/Cleary's 3336 & Chip-Co Aliette. Thoroughly drench the entire trunk of the palm with Cleary's 3336.

Perform any annual lower frond pruning. Remove any freeze-damaged fronds

Root drench with Subdue.

New canopy beginning to emerge.

Inspect terminal bud for signs of boring/chewing insects. If evidence of a nest is observed, drench terminal bud with Orthene.

May June July August

New canopy emerging.

Remove emerging seed/date stalks.

Fertilize with 8-10 pounds 12/5/12 w/minors or close equivalent.

Root drench w/Cleary's 3336 & Chip-Co Aliette. Thoroughly drench the entire trunk of the palm with Cleary's 3336.

Root drench with Subdue.

Submit soil & root sample to agricultural lab. Test for N,P,K pH & minors and disease.

Inspect terminal bud for signs of boring/chewing insects.

Drench terminal bud with Orthene if evidence of a nest is discovered.

September October November December

Fertilize with 3-4 pounds 12/5/12 w/minors or close equivalent.

Root drench w/Cleary's 3336 & Chip-Co Aliette. Thoroughly drench the entire trunk of the palm with Cleary's 3336.

Start of dormancy period.

Root drench with Subdue.

Dormancy period.
